From Altenbeken, you can set out on hikes and excursions in virtually every direction. Whether hiking through the Paderborn region, into the cultural landscape of Höxter, or along the Eggeweg trail (part of the European E1 long-distance path), you can experience nature and the landscape with all your senses. Hiking to nearby attractions—such as the Hermanns Monument and the Externsteine rock formations—is also highly recommended. Alternatively, explore the magnificent surroundings of Altenbeken via circular hiking trails (ranging from 5 to 25 km) themed around "Railways and Springs."
As Altenbeken is a railway hub, it is easy to hike a longer route and return to your starting point by train. Upon request, we would be happy to provide maps or prepare a packed lunch for you.
