The two-star hotel is one of over 5,000 accommodations in Germany with the ADFC's Bed & Bike quality seal, which guarantees a special service for cyclists.

 

For example, bicycles must be stored safely overnight; tourist information material, tools and a drying facility must be available. As in all other 500 Bed & Bike hotels in NRW, cyclists passing through are welcome guests, even if they are staying overnight.

 

Both before and after the bike tour, guests can rely on the bike-friendly service of the Hotel Mertens. The enthusiastic sportswoman Anni Mertens knows the needs of cycle tourists: "Our rich breakfast with fresh baked goods from our own production and the packed lunch with homemade muesli bars give you energy for the tour. In the evenings, cyclists can relax in the hotel's own sauna." The Bed & Bike guesthouse with a total of 11 rooms is located directly on the 255-kilometer-long Paderborner Land Route and the Teuto-Senne rail bike route.

 

Nadja Danne from the Paderborner Land Tourist Office also sees the Hotel Mertens award as an important contribution to bicycle tourism: "Guesthouses like the Hotel Mertens make cycling trips to the Paderborner Land even more attractive." In addition to the ADFC requirements for bicycle-friendly guesthouses, the hotel already meets the criteria of the "Quality Hosts for Hiking in Germany".
